Our operation at The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club has continued to grow over the last few years and it was great to see The Championship back with full crowds but also an extra day with the Middle Sunday now becoming a permanent fixture. Our team have not only been managing the route from Southfields to the venue, but also Car Park 10 management and external security/SIA services, including the pre-checking of trade vehicles before arrival on site (this has meant X-Ray search training).
We have been supporting the Epsom Derby since the 90's when we only provided car parking services. Over 25 years later the operation encompasses all soft services, security and stewarding, traffic management as well as car parking. The scale of the operation has grown considerably as well with increased hospitality facilities as well as the fairground and market on The Hill.
In 2016, we were one of the first medium sized event services providers to create on-line inductions for our front-line teams. Whilst we prefer face to face sessions, the nature of our regional recruitment created logistical challenges, particularly when recruiting for one-off events. The solution was to develop on-line inductions to ensure consistency for all our front-line teams whether the worked a single event or all year round. Nowadays these are completed on the recruitment days so there is a physical presence as well, and all new staff have to undergo and pass before they can operate an assignment.
We have been reading a lot in the recent press with regard to the labour shortages as we return from COVID, particularly in regard to the travel and hospitality industries. These industries really struggled during COVID with a cessation of all activities, and compounded with the effects of Brexit 2 years on, has found that there is a high demand for those who want to work.
As we are a specialist provider of Traffic Management to the venue and events industry, as well as supporting civil work from time to time, making sure our teams receive the right training and accreditation is paramount to giving our clients the confidence that their traffic management is being managed and delivered correctly. Whether football, rugby, horse-racing, golf, exhibitions or even major events such as G7, Cornwall or COP26, Glasgow, we design and implement TMP's (Traffic Management Plans) and can support with Chapter 12d, Chapter 8 (Signing, Lighting. Guarding) and CSAS (Community Safety Accreditation Scheme) operatives.
One of the City of London’s oldest traditions is the Boar’s Head Procession which typically takes place in early December. For 2021, the pre-Christmas event was delayed until January 2022. This annual event sees the ‘Worshipful Company of Butchers’, one of the oldest of the City’s Livery Companies, dating back to 975AD, donning their fur-trimmed robes, process from their Hall in Bartholemew Close and make their way to Mansion House, the home of the Lord Mayor of the City of London. With its roots dating back to 1343, The Boar's Head is an annual payment for a piece of land in the City of London granted to the Butchers for the disposal of waste - while the land no longer exists the annual ceremony continues to this day.
