We are pleased to sponsor a race annually at Newbury Racecourse and it was nice to get back to normality this year, given the last two years of the pandemic. We sponsored The CSP Mares' Novices' Hurdle again this November 3rd, and Newbury Racecourse allowed us to use their Royal Box to give some of our management team a day out and the opportunity to meet some of our key clients. Luckily, the rail strike was called off so everyone could relax and share a drink and share stories of the last couple of years, put faces to email conversations and talk about the future.
Our Premier Fantasy League, CSP - Living the Dream, has had the highest numbers of competitors since we started it in 2017, with 138 teams entered to date, made up of a combination of both staff, suppliers and clients. A constant over the last few years has been the inclusion of George Mayanja and O'Neil Mclean (now our client at Tottenham Hotspur FC) battling in the Top 5, but we have seen a much more open contest so far this year with George in 7th place whilst O'Neil, clearly distracted by a busy season at Tottenham Stadium, all the way at 57th (even behind yours truly at 45th !!)
I can remember my first visit to Loftus Road in 1975 to see Yes in concert (those were the days!) swiftly followed by a visit in 1976 to see a friendly against Red Star Belgrade. Those days in the old First Division (the equivalent of today's Premier League for you youngsters) saw Queens Park Rangers playing with a mix of legends in their later years (John Hollins, Frank McLintock, David Webb) alongside younger stars (Stan Bowles, Gerry Francis, Dave Clement and Phil Parkes).
The Birmingham Commonwealth Games came to a fantastic conclusion with its closing ceremony culminating in Black Sabbath, Birmingham's very own heavy metal heroes, bringing down the curtain to a fantastic event. We were incredibly proud to have provided security cover to numerous sites including Alexander Stadium, Smithfield, Victoria Park, Sutton Park, Cannock Chase, Warwick, Wolverhampton and Victoria Square, and traffic management/ checkpoint and access control services to Alexander Stadium, Cannock Chase, Sutton Park, the University of Birmingham, Sandwell Aquatics Centre and Lea Valley Velodrome.
Our operation at The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club has continued to grow over the last few years and it was great to see The Championship back with full crowds but also an extra day with the Middle Sunday now becoming a permanent fixture. Our team have not only been managing the route from Southfields to the venue, but also Car Park 10 management and external security/SIA services, including the pre-checking of trade vehicles before arrival on site (this has meant X-Ray search training).
We have been supporting the Epsom Derby since the 90's when we only provided car parking services. Over 25 years later the operation encompasses all soft services, security and stewarding, traffic management as well as car parking. The scale of the operation has grown considerably as well with increased hospitality facilities as well as the fairground and market on The Hill.
